NC Trip Junior Mentor
Each year, the 8th grade students of my school take a field trip to North Carolina during April for a week of outdoor activities and leadership development. During my junior year of high school, I applied for and served as a field trip mentor to the 8th graders for this trip. This hands on mentorship experience allowed my to apply my leadership skills to be an adequate role model and mentor to the 8th graders.
Significant Moments
01
Daily Activites
The North Carolina trip consisted of daily outdoor activities meant to encourage the 8th graders to be more active and adventurous. As a mentor, my job was to give the students encouragement and aid them through any challenges or fears they may face during these activities.
02
8th Grade Dance
Nearing the end of the trip, a ho-down dance was held for the 8th graders to connect with their peers and navigate social events. As mentors, my peers and my job was to make the 8th graders feel more comfortable, encourage them to dance, and accompany any student who didn't have a dance partner.

03
Survivor
Survivor games were held at the end of every day of the trip for the 8th graders to engage in teamwork and leadership skills. The 8th graders were split into tribes; as a mentor, I was sent to lead and instruct my given tribe along with two other mentors as the 8th graders faced their challenges. At the end of the trip, there was a final tribal council, in which the tribes reflected on the week and the tribe that won the most survivor games was rewarded.
