Contributing Knowledge
Students will be able to draw conclusions based on analysis and interpretation of primary evidence and place that work in conversation with other source materials.

Project 1: Final Draft
This assignment is the final draft for my first Gordan Rule assignment, project one. This assignment calls for me to perform research on a problem within my field, which is the barriers faced by pre-aw students when trying to fund their legal education for this project. This assignment fits the criteria for contributing knowledge because I used the primary evidence of my interviews for this investigative project and incorporated it into my final draft of the project to interact with my secondary sources to contribute to my overall thesis statement and conclusion. Introducing my interviews as my primary evidence for this assignment, I stated, “I was able to do an interview with Earnest Rodriguez, a pre-law UCF senior, and legal assistant, and David Trevett, an attorney who went to Barry University for law school, in order to better understand the obstacles pre-law students face” (Leonard 5). This displays my
ability to incorporate my primary evidence with my secondary evidence to support my main ideas in the essay. This assignment impacted me because it was the first time I had ever used my primary evidence in a text and applied that evidence to the rest of my writing. This is important to me as I am invested in writing inquiry pieces in my own time, so having the ability to know how to create my primary evidence and incorporate it into my writing was very impactful to my writing process. I reflected on my writing during this assignment because I had to combine the interview style of writing and incorporate it into my very formal draft of the project for it to be cohesive. I was able to learn how to include evidence in a way that presents knowledge while maintaining a formal writing style.
QQC #2: Annoying Ways People Use Sources
This assignment was a discussion assignment that prompted me to read "Navigating Genres" by Kelly Dirk and provide one question about the text, one quote from the text that was significant to me, and one reflective comment about how I will use what I know now in the future. This assignment fits the criteria for drawing conclusions based on analyzing primary sources and placing the evidence in conversation with other materials by setting the foundation for me to be able to understand how I can implement the quotes of these primary sources within my writing in a way that will allow me to implement it into my writing and with my other sources. This assignment is impactful to me as it provided a learning resource for me to improve my writing for future projects and assignments, with a focus on how to implement and include sources in my writing. In my reflection on this assignment, I stated “One thing that I
might change about my writing after the reading is the way I structure my quotes” (Leonard 1). This reflective statement presents my reflection process as I completed this project, prompting me to incorporate sources into my writing better in the future.
